Did an easy 3 miles today ... noticed the pedometer registered only 2.57 miles, and I clocked it with my auto at 3.0 miles. Obviously I need to re-calibrate my step length.
If you are short on your step length the calculation for mileage will be short.

Keeping the pace ...
Well I did a VERY brisk 2 miles this morning ... temp was quite cool for South Florida ... felt real good ... at points I felt like breaking out into a jog ... but didn't. One thing I did after my walk was adjust my Omron HJ112 digital pedometer that I got at http://www.activeauthority.com/.
When I got it, I accepted the default setting for stride length, and then when I measured my stride today I had to shorten the stride setting on the pedometer.
Bye the way this is a terrific little pedometer as it will display steps, aerobic distance in miles, walk distance in miles, elapsed time, and caloric burn.
Additionally it will track performance for up to 40 some days.
You can get more info on it at http://www.activeauthority.com/Fitness+Walking.2.6.59.616.lasso .

Reconnecting via LinkedIN
Been doing some networking with past employees, and fellow workers this week via LinkedIN.
Got some great emails from friends from the past ... going all the way back to my Microcom days. It was great to hear from Dennis Corain, Chris S from Lodging, and to view David Fravels blog .... I think I'll link to it in the future, since he blogs about running like I do about walking.
If you're not familiar with LinkedIN ... it's really a social networking site for professionals ... great place to hang your hat, and your resume.

North Carolina Trip
We drove to North Carolina, actually to Denver NC, to share the holidays with our great friends, Gale and Tom Burke, and their family. As always, had a terrific time, good laughs, good food, and plenty of wine.
Did our first extended road trip, drove straight from Coral Spring to Denver in a little over 10 hrs. It's actually about 5 hrs. to Jacksonville FL, and then about another 5 to Denver NC. Pretty easy drive with regards to traffic and highway.
Did a few good walks there, with the rolling hills giving parts of my body a new experience. Had aches and pains in my ankles, shins, and hips ... but they disapated in a couple of days.
Love NC and would sure like to retire in that part of the country some day.

I'm baaaaack!
Wow ... November was a busy month ... work is very busy ... I'm trying very hard to build an internet business (http://www.activeauthority.com/), holiday, travel, and of course walking!
Been really quite good at the walking regime, but really only averaging 2 days a week. I don't like walking at dark, and I'm usually in the office very early. The afternoon heat in south Florida usually cancels any physical activity.
Oh well ... I'll just keep going ... doing 15 minute mi. as a routine.
