On the way into work I listen to NPR (National Public Radio) ... the other morning (oh yeah it was Valentine's day) they were interviewing Nigella Lawson (UK celebrity cook), and she was describing her dark, and incredibly moist chocolate loaf cake.
Well it sounded so decadant, I made it yesterday afternoon ... oh, my, God!
Go to npr.org and get the recipe ... it is the BEST chocolate cake I have ever had.
We enhanced with some stawberries, mint, and a dolop of
fat free whipped dessert topping.
Yum!

Cool down drink ....
Well I did a 4 mile walk this morning at a 15 min/mi pace ... comfortably. The weather was great, in the mid 60's, with little wind.
If you are looking for a great cool down drink, or just a great overall beverage, try the Diet Ocean Spray Cranberry and Grape drink. Just 6 cals per glass, and loaded with anit-oxidants.
Reminds me of the grape juice my Grandmother used to make me drink every day when I spent the summers with her.
Jeeze, where did that memory come from.

Damn .... feeling really good about walking!
My mp3 player died about a third for the way into my walk this morning. At first I was going to turn around and go home, since I really enjoy the walk with music.
However, I pushed on since I finally have gotten to that place where 'it's all about the walk'!
I try to encourage every one to walk ... and this has become somewhat of the focus for www.ActiveAuthority.com , which started out as a health and fitness site for mature adults (baby boomers) but is clearly moving toward a fitness walking site for active boomers, and others.
It also has an e-commerce focus, of support and rehabilitative products, that enable mature adults continue their fitness lifestyle.

Cycle vs. Walking
Went out for a bike ride on Sunday ... with the new Forge bike. I picked it up from the cycle shop Friday, and what a difference a tune-up makes ... I could literally feel the difference walking it to the car.
Went for a nice ride, but realized at the end that I much prefer walking. Walking feels like a much more significant workout, and really allows you to slow down mentally, and emotionally.
The bike gets you from point a to pont b, very fast, but you need to stay sharp and alert, moving at that speed. Walking allows me to use my mp3 player, and enjoy some music, which I normally don't get a chance to do. Didn't think listening to my mp3 player on the bike was a good idea from a safety perspective.
I think I'll use the bike for recreational touring, and keep my walking for fitness.
