An amazing statistic I heard yesterday ...

While listening to a book on CD in the car I heard that on average, Americans walk 1.45 miles per week! That must be an error, perhaps 1.45 miles per day ... no that doesn't sound correct either.

It really is no wonder that there is such a health crisis on many fronts in this country.

Any universal health plan, the Democrats come up with, should include a mandatory fitness program for every insured adult, and every child over the age of 12.

Yeah ... I can really see that happening ... just go get another Outback Steakhouse order of cheesy fries at 3500 calories per serving.

Walk on!

Overdoing it!

I slowed down the amount of walking, and also the pace, over the last week. Took a day off last weekend, and walked 2 miles on Sun and Tue. Just rested on the off days. Thur I did 2 miles and really felt good. Fri did 3 miles, at about a 17 min/mi pace and felt great.

Today just did another 2 miles at about a 15-16 min/mi pace and felt terrific. I think I need to listen to my body more, and when I start to hurt, back off and get better.

Pushing thru the pain just doesn't make sense.

Bye the way ... tomorrow I do a 5K for the Arthritis Foundation ... didn't make my goal in fundraising, and disappointed with some of my friends for not helping out. More on that later ...

I do thank everyone that did donate to the AF ... it's a good organization run by good people ... and I know that for a fact!

Walk on!

I think I got it ......

Did another walk today after work ... late PM (around 4:30PM ... 85 degrees, lot's of humidity) ... I think I have figured out why my last few walks have been tough ... heat and humidity!!!! Got to figure out a new strategy ...

Walking On?

Well I took a day off (yesterday) to see if that would help my walking!

Today I went out to do a relaxed half hour ... 2 miles.

I started out OK ... slow, comfortable pace, but picked it up at about a mile ... had some discomfort ... that's really the wrong term, I just didn't feel like I had a fluid walking motion.

I had to work at the process of walking ... and I think that is being forced by my preoccupation with time ... I may formally decide to ignore time, in favor of enjoying walking!

Walk on ... at your pace!
